There was a rumor linking Uruguay legend Diego Forlan to Indian Super League’s Atletico Kolkata  – the former Manchester United and Atletico Madrid forward was playing for Cerezo Osaka in Japan at the time, and understood to be seeking a new club.
Pablo, father of Diego linked his son with clubs from Mexico, Chile (Colo Colo) and USA in an interview to an Argentine radio program. Interestingly, it was Forlan’s brother who substantiated the link with Atletico de Kolkata in Indian Super League! It is all in the family as they say.

But latest is Necaxa – newly-promoted to Liga MX – to the list of clubs allegedly chasing the legendary Uruguayan forward.

The rumored interest would appear to have been first reported by Uruguayan journalist Wilson Mendez though NewYork Bulls yet to give up.

But the report also stated that Atletico Madrid are also assisting the Indian Super League in bagging the player for the third season of the Indian football competition. Forlan was seen the previous time in Kolkata in 2010 during a promotional event. He didn’t display his football skills, however.
Will the City of Joy finally get to witness him live this time around? It remains to be seen though AnandaBazar and few TV news channels claiming ATK have signed him but all are leave in contrast!
But If Diego has indeed signed with ATK, then he has been paid almost 25% of the entire Atletico de Kolkata budget according to the report. Hoping that we finally see the legend romping in the Salt Lake.
