Dekho wo aa gaya.. haan haan wo aa gaya! Yes, ladies and gentlemen, we are talking about Hero Indian Super League Season 4. The Hero ISL season 4 promises to be better, bigger and stronger. The new league has almost revamped itself and has got itself a complete new look, adding two new teams under its belt – Welcome, Jamshedpur FC and Bengaluru FC.

Happy memories to kick off the preview.

Having said all the above, if one thing that has remain constant about Hero ISL (previous all three seasons), than that is ATK’s habit of winning the first game of season. Some habits never change and we seriously hope that this one does not ever change. Make no mistake, the work won’t be easy as in the way, stands the runners up of first and third season, Kerala Blasters FC, a team that packs few X-ATK players – Rino Anto, Arata Izumi and aannd aaannd, yes this one is painful, they also have THE-IAIN-EDWARD-HUME. I know, the ATKFans must be furious upon me for reminding this again.

How difficult would it be seeing him don the Kerala Blasters FC jersey?

Anyways, lets put some light upon the current ATK squad, as even have the perfect blend of expereinced foreign players and young local talent. Talking about local talent, ATK showcases the likes of Robin Singh, Prabir Das, Debjit Majumdar, Rupert Nongrum, Augustine Fernandes, Ashutosh Mehta, Keegan Pereira, Anwar Ali, Jayesh Rane and arguably, the best Indian midfielder, Eugeneson Lyngdoh. On basis of this, One can safely say that ATK has one of the best set of Indian players in the squad, or the best set of players, maybe.

The #TwoTimeChampions also possess foreign stars like Carl Baker, Conor Thomas, Zequinha, Jordi, and Tom Thorpe. Wonder why did the author took legendary Robbie Keans‘s name? That’s because as per latest rumour, Robbie Keane has suffered an injury and he might be ruled out for the first couple of ATK games. Umm, ATK marquee players and injuries, still a better love story than Twilight. Season 1, Luis Garcia‘s injury saw him out for the major part of the league. Season 2, excluding the inaugral match, Helder Postiga was either seen warming the couch of ATK’s VIP lounge or was under rehab, back in Portugal. Season 3, ATK’s marquee, Helder Postiga was again injured in the first game, and it took 2 weeks for him to regain his fitness back. Hewh, I deserve a pat on my back for the awesome sharp memory I just showcased. Sorry, I know it was a lame one.

The ATK Squad!

We don’t have much of an update regarding what might be the starting XI of ATK for the opening match of the tournament, though few things that should be certain is Debjit Majumdar in goal, Prabir and Keegan forming the defensive wall, Eugeneson, Jayesh and Conor Thomas guiding the midfield of ATK, while the goal scoring responsibilities lying upon the 30 year old, Zequinha and the Indian national forward, Robin Singh.

Robin Singh (Left) and Eugeneson Lyngdoh (Right) – All set to kick off Hero ISL 4 on a high.

Kerala Blasters FC also look quite formidible to give the two time champions a tough time at their home turf with the likes of Dimitar Berbatov (marquee), Iain Hume, Sandesh Jhingan, Rino Anto, Milan Singh, Siam Hanghal and Arata Izumi ready to showcase their talent.

Just like team ATK, we don’t have any idea on how would KBFC line up for the first game, but some obvious picks could be Sandip Nandy in goal, Rino Anto and Sandesh Jhingan as CB’s, Arata and Milan Singh in the midfield, Hume and Berbatov as forwards, but will they be able to break the ATK’s record of winning the first game of the league? Only time will tell.

Dada (Co-Owner, ATK) vs Sachin (Co-Owner, KBFC). Whom are you rooting for?
