A draw and a pathetic defeat. Clearly things have not happened the way ATK & #ATKFans would have loved it to, atleast in the first few weeks the revamped Hero Indian Super League. Now that ATK hits the road once again, we are here to discuss about ATK’s second away game of the tornament against the Hero ISL debutants, Jamshedpur FC. But before we do, if this is your first time here or just in case we got a cut from our memory, you are ATKFANS.IN and you are reading our MATCH PREVIEW on Jamshedpur FV vs ATK. So lets get into it.

ATK started the tournament on a decent note, showing the metal this team is made up of, though they failed to pull up a goal against the Kerala Blaster FC, but athe same time, they kept a clean sheet. Now that ATK did managed to score against the stallions in the second game, they gave away 4 sloppy goals, and yes, FC Pune City did not had to do a lot of hard work to get those goals. Anyway, we are here to talk about the defending champions and not about FC pune City.

ATK shared quite a nice pecentage of ball possession, but failed to find any advantage of it as there was no cutting edge going forward. Coach, Teddy Sheringham has always praised Kuqi, stating that he has really come off well for the team and is doing wonders in the attacking front. But if I was to be honest, I did not see any bite from the tall striker, atleast in the first couple of games. It took him 79 mins into the game against FC Pune City to win a free header. Ain’t that ridiculous? Moving towards the midfield of team ATK, Conor Thomas had an absolute off day and the lack of chemistry between him and Eugene continued. Thomas looked short of ideas whenever he found the ball in some space and eventually the visiting team has enough time to cut the attack off.

There are plenty of problems that the defending champions needs to take care off, but the most worrying site is probably the defense. Even on observing the match so minutely, I personally could not make out the formation they were playing with, they initially started off with 4-4-2, but 10 mins into the game, Kuqi was the lone striker, deeper into the game, i could see 6-7 players in the defense and no one really maing an effort to push the ball towards the FC Pune City goal, apart from Bipin, who was absolutely brilliant against the staiions, and it was only because of his exceptional set piece, ATK found a break. We can just say that the lesser talked about ATK’s performance in their first home game, the better it is.

Putting a glance on ATK’s opponent, Jamshedpur FC. The season has not started on a friendly note for the either. They hold on to the record of first yellow card this season and first red card of this season. But at the same time, they have not had an miserable outing like ATK, and they also possess quality players like Doutie, Belfort, and Memo, which currently ATK are lacking, courtesy  – injuries to star players like Robbie Keane, Carl Baker, Jayesh Rane and Augustine Fernandes.

Ab toh aankhe taras gayi tumhe dekhne ke liye.. kab aaoge tum?

Having talked all about that, a team does need its true supporters, specially when the chips are down, so its your time to rise high and support team ATK, as they look the turn the wind towards them against Jamshedpur FC.
