After a heavy demoralizing loss against FC Pune City, ATK coach-Sheringham & his team are on their way to JRD Tata Sports Complex to salvage back some pride and also the much needed crucial three points in their kitty playing against the new entries into the Indian Super League-Jamshedpur FC.

ATK, now in a precarious position in the league, placed second last are struggling to find the best combination and are primarily fighting a tussle amongst themselves rather than their opponents. It has always been an injury-hit side unfortunately and the defeat in the last encounter left them all exposed leaving the management scratch their heads in utter dismay. In such times a team needs absolute unity and sheer resoluteness to fetch good fortune which is hard to come by easily to them. An inspired performance from the senior exponents in the team is the need of the hour.

Robbie Keane isn’t still fully fit enough to hit the pitch and lead the attacking line which is now headed by Finnish footballer, Njazi Kuqi. He has looked below par in both the games that he has played and ATK, thus haven’t looked impressive upfront. While Robin Singh has been a thrust but he’s been Teddy’s trumpcard for the 2nd half. The reason could be the Delhi lad Indian forward isnt at his prime to play the full 90 minutes. Coming to the back line, Jordi Figueras, the captain of the side has looked good in his infividual prowess but is yet to reach his best and has failed to lead the defense till now. New foreign recruits Tom Thorpe has failed miserably and Conor Thomas hasn’t pulled off a quality performance till now. Keegan Pereira & Prabir Das has been average in the game. The sole bright spot shining out among the team of averages till now has been Portuguese forward managing the ATK wingplay regularly is José Egas Dos Santos Branco popularly named as Zequinha. He has stood out with his individual skills, trickery, throughballs & curlers into the goal, keeping the goalie & defence line in the opponent box busy. Lyngdoh hasn’t lived up to his expectations but he can be banked upon big time. Bipin Singh & Hitesh Sharma, the youngsters have played their part comparatively well as much cannot be asked off them, they being physically weaker to heavily built opponent defenders way above their age. So it has unfortunately been a mixed bag team calling for urgent changes in the side or in the approach of the existing ones.

ATK’s technical director, Ashley Westwood & coach, Teddy Sheringham have got a huge task in hand to bring immediate stability to the side and keep the morals high leading into today’s game as Jamshedpur FC are surely going to keep a keen eye into these ATK loopholes and strike big to fetch their first win in the league after two hard fought draws back to back to get their season roll on with much needed momentum. It would be interesting to find out what ATK have in store to counter their innumerous problems on & off the field and come out triumphant today.
