Revving up the engine

The Opening weeks haven’t been good for us this time around. With the key players sidelined due to injuries, ATK hasn’t been at their best this year.

While the last week match against Chennayin FC showed some positive signs.ATK played well to equalize twice with goals from Zequinha and Kuqi. Jeje eventually scored the final goal ending the match 3-2 in favor of the home side.

Another positive thing for ATK was that Robbie Keane finally made his  ISL debut. He was substituted at the 61′ minute wasted no time in setting up Kuqi to the second goal.

Strengthening the defense with Ryan Taylor

But this doesn’t end here ATK has found a replacement for the injured Carl Baker.Ryan Taylor(England) will be replacing him in the defense. He has represented England in the U21’s and was part of the Newcastle side that won the EFL Championship in 2009-10.He also had some brief stints with Hull City and Wigan Athletic. The defense was one of our main concerns and his signing will strengthen the area.

Introducing young legs?

ATK are all also closing in on signing Komal Thatal of Indian Arrows (I-League).Hailing from Sikkim, he has represented India in the recently concluded U-17 world cup.He has also been spotted training with ATK players ahead of the match against Mumbai City FC.After being left out of the I-League side Indian Arrows he is likely to join ATK sooner. The team already possesses promising youngsters in Hitesh Sharma and Bipin Singh and addition of Komal will bolster the ATK attack.
