The Quality trio of Robbie Keane, Zequinha and Mbatha were just way too much for CCFC to handle.

An all important qualifier match between ATK and CCFC was on cards as both team look to start a new campaign. With poor campaign at ISL 2017-18, ATK looked to take the new challenge of Super cup with Robbie Keane taking incharge for the 2nd time. With I-league teams dominating the ISL teams, all eyes were on the two time ISL champions.

It was all ATK as they dominated Chennai city throughout the first half. They pressed high consistently although the lacked finishing touches. Zequinha on the left created lots of problems for CCFC with his runs and quality crosses.

Just a corner was gonna delivered by zequinha there was a problem of malfunctioning floodlight which held the proceedings for a while.

Just after the problem was dealt with and play resumed it was hitesh Sharma’s superb strike outside the box that gave ATK a well deserved lead in the 43rd minute of the game.

Just when it was looking that ATK will take the lead at half time, Chennai city fc struck with Edwin’s cross headed well by Joachim past Soram poirei which got them back in the game.

ATK were disheartened as it was the first quality ball that CCFC put in box and to their luck it hurted them in the form of a equalizer by opposite side. Thereby the teams stood 1-1 at the break.

However in the second half, ATK began in a more enterprising note as Robin singh missed a sitter as he went one on one with goalkeeper kabir.

However in the 57th minute, Zequinha who was easily the beat player of the match played a lovely touch and go play with robbie Keane and finally finished it to give the lead back to ATK.

However, Chennai city fc did come back strongly after conceding the second time in the match and dominated the proceeding for 15-20 minutes with some good play by soosiraj and Joachim. However Soram poirei and and ATK defense was equally up to the task as they kept them in the bay.

It was almost game set match done, when Ashutosh Mehta, who had a good match in Centre back role scored a goal with a fine header which made 3-1 for ATK.

Robbie Keane settled the issue few minutes later at the 84th minute, the Irishmen controlled Zequinha’s ball and tapped it beautifully in the net and made it 4-1 ATK.

It was totally a commanding performance by ATK as they outclassed the I-league based side with ease. However ATK will be a bit disappointed as they didn’t convert some easy chances into goal with Robin singh being the biggest culprit as they could easily made it 7-1 or 6-1 scoreline.

Now, ATK has daunting task as they face rivals FC goa in the next round of super cup 2018. However to delight of the fans, Robbie Keane and his man are in no mood of wasting time as they will start their preparation soon for next knockout game which is gonna be held on 3rd of April.
