Well, the season 5 edition of the Indian Super League is raring to go off tonight on the 29th of September, 2018 at the prestigious Vivekananda Yuva Bharati Krirangan Stadium, Saltlake, Kolkata as two-time champions, city’s emerging footballing force, ATK take on their arch rivals, two-time finalists, Kerala Blasters in a much awaited opening thriller of a match..!!

ATK side coached by veteran instructor, Steve Coppell who plied his trade also at this current opposition, Kerala Blasters in his first stint at the ISL would look to pull a few leaves out of his sleeves & help facilitate ATK in their first outing this season in bagging crucial points. While Kerala Blasters icon mentor & coach, David James will look to avenge his side’s numerous defeats against ATK in previous few seasons.

ATK has a strong squad on paper this time around and can certainly hurt a few coming their way having acquired the services of captain, Manuel Lanzarote, Everton Santos, John Johnson, Gerson Vieira, Kalu Uche in the foreign big names while the likes of Arnab Mondal, Arindam Bhattacharya, Balwant Singh, Pronoy Halder & Cavin Lobo among the notable Indians in the squad. A strong defensive formation coupled with good counter attacking options makes this side a team to watch out for. The beast of a man at the back, Andre Bikey is likely to miss out tonight just like Arnab & Prabir due to untimely injuries. Khongjee & Ralte might start alongside Gerson & Johnson with either of Debjit/Arindam at the back. Given the preseason performances, Arindam would have a bigger say in there. While in the mid, Pronoy is likely to start with Lyngdoh. Lanzarote will take over the left wing with the likes of Santos & Balwant upfront and Jayesh on the right side of the wingplay.

ATK likely line-up

Coming to KBFC, even this side has a strong defence base including skipper, Sandesh Jhinghan & overseas players like Cyril Kali, Nemanja Lakic-Pesic & also Anas Edathodika but he’s like to miss the game tonight as he’s serving a three-match ban. Upfront, CK Vineeth & new Slovenian striker-recruit, Matej Poplatnik can solve KB’s goal drought issues of the last season and come out all guns blazing in this all important opening summit clash. Lack of experienced Indian players in the midfield can put the Blasters side a bit on the backfoot starting tonight.

It all adds up to the spice of an entertaining thriller of a night as the prolonged fifth season of the Hero ISL commence tonight in all its glory & vigour..!! Come On..Lets Football..⚽️
