ATK edge past DDFC in a crunch game courtesy of goals by Balwant Singh and Noussair El Maimouni.

After the international break, ISL returned as the Two time Champions ATK who had their worst start in ISL history locked horns with Delhi Dynamos FC at Jawaharlal Nehru stadium , Delhi.

The match started with both the teams starting to Attack from the word go though the midfielders failed to hold the possession.Regular Turnovers , however did not result in clear cut chances to score.

ATK certainly looked the better side as they were out of the blocks quickly and showed intent to press.Manuel Lanzarote and Kalu uche combined well upfront and surged forward.

Goalkeeper Dorronsoro’s paas to Vinit Tai was well intercepted by Pronay Halder who released it to Kalu Uche whose turns from right to left and finally a strong shot was well stopped by DDFC goalie.

The host sloppiness cost them as Ricky’s ball high up to Lanzarote who played a lovely one-two with Pronay lobbing it back to Balwant in space. The Striker cut inside Pritam kotal the wrong way and neatly curled a shot into the top right corner of the net.

ATK ended the first half as a better side taking a 1-0 lead.

Though Delhi Dynamos FC came back through a corner by Narayan Das in the 54th minute which was headed back by Rana Gharami. The looping header was put back of the net by the DDFC captain Pritam kotal making the scoreline 1-1.

From there on DDFC had good hold of the ball and started putting pressure on Steve Coppell’s side.Arindham who didn’t had much to do in the match was seen in action thanks to a strong attack by DDFC from the wings.Jayesh Rane who replaced impresive Komal Thatal failed to score a virtual one on one with goalie as the DDFC centre back showed good resistant stealing the ball from the ATK forward.

Steve Coppell replaced Kalu Uche to bring on the Noussair El Maimouni in 80th minute who straight away had influence in the match as he stealled the ball of Carmona from his half and played it to Lanzarote who found Jayesh Rane in space on the right. Rane placed the ball back to Maimouni who slotted it back past the DDFC defenders giving ATK the lead for the second time in 84th minute of the game.

Minutes after that Everton Santos steal the ball in a open DDFC half however the cross to Jayesh Rane proved a bit heavy which would have given the visitors another goal.

ATK ended the match with their first points on board in ISL 6 as the visitor fought bravely at the Lion’s Den.

Steve Coppell would certainly be delighted with the player’s effort though would certainly need to improve on set piece defending and quality of Crosses.

ATK travel to the furnace as they face Jamshedpur FC on Sunday this week.
